Rare and highly decorative antique spectacles from the late Victorian era (circa 1895–1910).
This unique pair features ornate filigree work inspired by traditional Chinese coin motifs, with round cut-out patterns resembling ancient Chinese “cash” coins — a design sometimes adopted in late-19th-century export-style jewelry and fashion accessories.
The frame is gold-filled with cast brass decorative elements. The bridge and temples show elaborate openwork patterns, including the iconic square-centered circle design associated with Chinese coin symbolism, believed to represent prosperity and protection.
Early celluloid nose pads are intact, and the lenses show mild surface wear consistent with age. Hinges function properly. Beautiful patina throughout.
A rare fusion of Victorian craftsmanship and Asian-inspired decorative art — ideal for collectors, display, Steampunk costuming, or historical reenactment.
